I got a bit wreaths crazy to prepare for the advent and the pre-Christmas period. I had this idea for a while and couldn't wait to share it with you! It was really all about using what I already had (ok, granted that I had quite a lot of accumulated tools already but still...). And I just only bought a couple more things to add on.Let me walk you through the process:These days, I always hang around with a pair of secateur (or pruning shears) with me. And if there are things to my liking, I just cut it off. I'm not reaaaally stealing plants from neighbouring gardens. I'm simply taking out what is outside of fences, or a bit old etc.I even sometimes ring doorbells to ask if it's possible for me to take a piece of something. In the spring, I ended up with a couple of beautiful magnolia branches. So I cut some thuyas, some hydrangeas, some holly for instance. And to make the base of the wreaths, I used several metal ones I owned like these from Dille and Kamille. Or like the brass one from Strup I use a lot on instagram. I also have a Clematis outside my house. And I cut lots of dead branches to make big, medium and small bases. This year, I purchased another already made ring from Granit, a swedish shop. Along with some ribbons that I will also use for presents. I also needed strong threads and thin wires, a secateur plus a pair of scissors. Then I gathered everything on the table and started making them one by one. Aside from what I stole foraged around me, I also used some dried plants I had collected over the last months. Like heathers, hydrangeas, eucalyptus or gypsophila.I used various technics I learnt, including one from my friend Karenwho taught me a great deal when I was in Greece. It is rather tricky to explain in writing. You have to make little bundles with the plants you will use and that you have attached with some wires and then put them one by one over the bottom of the wreath. Overall, try to plan your wreaths on the table before your attach it to the base. Your base can be also other types of vines that you have put together as a circle. Use a string to start with and insert most of what you want to put while attaching the string around. Then you can use the wires to insert other items or to make the rest to the form of your liking.I also have a great book called Wreaths from wormlondon. It was a great help. Such beautiful creations in that book. If you would need, don't hesitate to send me a mail or a DM via instagram. I can try to help you out and will explain as best as I can. Overall, I'm not making the most beautiful wreaths there are. I'm trying to keep them simple. The one on the top of the picture below is one of my favourite. It's really only made with foraged things (including my clematis). Very inspired by the beautiful one from Babes in Boyland, a couple of swedish creatives.(The bouquet is also magnificent but not made by me, it's from my friend Caroline, La frénésie). A few more pictures? ok then:Let me know if you have any more questions!
