Portrait of my children in 2017- Seven

August 3, 2017

Seventh portrait together once a month is finally here. This was an idea from Eliott: Colour smoke! I thought : "great!". So I got some funny products in the mail (and by funny, I mean "weird" because it's usually in use for military exercices).  And I had a long look at Pinterest and Instagram for ideas. We were all set I thought:

Eliott and Lily had plenty of ideas, this was going to be fun! But there was one thing I didn't think about: Vendée, where my father has a house,  means "wind" and wind.... doesn't go well with smoke bombs! That, and moving kids. And bad light. But we made it anyway:(Since my father tagged along, if you go towards the end of the post, you can even see some behind the scenes pictures):We went to several locations. First we went to a field but the light wasn't with us at that point:I had plenty of colours to try various times, but these things, once lighted, only last 90s and that's faster than it sounds:I had several colours left so we went to another field that I particularly liked when the sun was shining over it and my daughter running in it:It was better in terms of wind but not great.  And still, the light wasn't with us. Plus,  I hadn't taken all the colours with me so we decided to try a more confined space. And also try something different:Pelle would hold the smoke instead of the children, maybe that would avoid it to go all over the place:Cool effect, huh? well, that's when they didn't have the smoke in their eyes:They are not always that serious though, just so you know:We still had some colour smoke bombs for another portrait session so we went to the sea with them. Beautiful light and all. But the wind was worse! Still quite a beautiful place actually:And we tried the smoke effect again. It so didn't work, it became a really funny thing! But what fun anyway:Some outtakes (with or without smoke) aaaand some making off pictures if you can spot them:And s'more: The cool husband helping out (finally) ! It was an experience and it was worth it but if we had to do it again, we would definitely find a non windy place (with the right light of course!). What did you think? Would you like to see more behind the scenes?
