A classic in the Stockholm archipelago: Vaxholm island

July 13, 2017

Just a quick post to tell you that if you are in Stockholm and would like to make a quick trip to the archipelago but aren't expecting anything too wild, you should head to Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago! It's such a beautiful island, worth a day trip. Then you can also take boats to smaller islands from there is you fancy. We went there twice this year, you can see pics  here from our previous trip. We loved it both times!:The fun bit starts with waiting for the boat! And usually the boat ride is rather long but just as worth as the visit of the island! If you leave from central Stockholm, it will only take you an hour. You can take walks and find old town houses, boats and beaches.  And nice little Scandinavian shops. Among them some are selling nice colourful candies. Our favourite is when you arrive to the water from wandering around the small alleys. Probably because it  has that nice beach and coffee place to rest. And also a little pier to watch boats go by:To sum it up: Vaxholm is just an hour boat ride from Stockholm. It has pretty typical Swedish houses and a good archipelago feel. It's not too complicated to reach and easy to find your way in. Although it might not be the wildest of the islands, I still really recommend it for a day trip!As this was probably our last trip there for a while, I had to share. I hope new travel plans will come up soon. Meanwhile, holidays in France to rest will really do the trick (and probably more blog post to come!)
