Örebro isn't the place you would think of going to visit if you are spending some time in Sweden. Yet, if you have the luxury and the time, I would really recommend to go during the Open art days there. My husband is from there, this is why I happen to spend a bit more time in this city than the average tourist or even the average swede. I didn't like it so much at the beginning but it has a lot of hidden treasures. It has developed over the years too and I have grown founder of it every time I have been. Open art in Örebro is such a great thing to do to get to like the city: pieces of art all over town of artists from all over the world. This year there was even an installation of Ai Wei Wei:There are many outdoors and indoors installations to wander through (maybe even some shocking art but even the kids thought it was good)Basically, I find it's a really nice way to discover the city. For exemple, there is a nice castle in the middle of town, surrounded by the river, and during the open art days you'll find all sorts of funny and/or beautiful art:And a lots of other fun amenities especially for the kids (Lily isn't unhappy there, she is trying to do her serious face):And if you happen to have been convinced to have a little peak at the open art in Örebro ( next event in 2017) or even just Örebro, I urge you to try the Sen Street food restaurant in the Saluhall of Örebro- a usually covered food market, Swedish style (they also have an address in Stockholm and Umeå). Such a nice surprise in such a small city, not well known for the best restaurants: very fresh ingredients, amazing tastes and a great variety of thai/vietnamese/japanese street style food.KUNGSGATAN 15+46(19)10 19 99OPENING HOURS MON - SAT 11 - 20SUN CLOSED"
